Our Skirt Sports Ambassador Weekend

IMG_7429Jennifer and I had a GREAT time at the Skirt Sports Ambassador retreat weekend in early June. She and I both became ambassadors for Skirt just over a year ago. We decided to apply to Skirt for a number of reasons–first and foremost we really connected with the message of the company. Skirt Sports caters to the everyday woman and the elite athlete. Their clothing is designed to look good and feel good on women of all shapes and sizes. Their tag line: REALwomenmove promotes the idea that ALL women of ALL shapes and sizes are out and active, not simply uber fit, slender women. This company encourages all women to be active. Of course another reason we wanted to be Skirt ambassadors is that we absolutely love the skirts! We both came from pretty traditional running backgrounds and were a little slow to jump on the running skirt bandwagon, that is until we tried on Skirt Sports skirts. The fit is incredibly comfortable, the compression shorts under the skirts hold everything in place and provide pockets for a cell phone or gels. Also, the skirt itself is super cute and easy to run in, frequently with an additional pocket to store a car key or another gel. Overall, we love this company started by Nicole DeBoom, former professional triathlete (and wife of 2 time Ironman World Champion Tim DeBoom).

Summertime and The Living is Easy

IMG_6457Summertime. I want to maintain my fitness level. I want to get faster. I want to race this summer. I want to look good in a bathing suit. It’s hot. I feel lazy. I want to sit on my ass by the pool. I want to drink cold beverages. Hmm, all these goals don’t really mesh. I have fitness goals, but I don’t necessarily have the motivation to reach all my fitness goals. And for once, I think that I’m okay with that. For me–Summertime and the living is easy. Yes I stole that from Porgy and Bess–great statement for how I’m feeling–plus I FINALLY got to see it during Spoleto this year. I volunteered during the dress rehearsal and got to seeĀ opera for free! Win-win. Sorry, I digress.
